Body Tube:
Lydia came up with the idea for our body tube. We also thought of using a paper towel role, but we were recommended to make our own body tube because it will be more sturdy. After talking about it we decided not to take risks and that we should make our own body tube. Lydia decided that our body should be around 15 inches because it has a chance of producing a larger amount of thrust.
Nose Cone:
Evan came up with the idea of our nose cone, he said he wanted it to be pointed and made out of balsa wood the same wood we would use for the fins. We plan on learning how to make the nose cone as we continue with our project and we hope to ask a few students in our class that have an idea of what they are doing to help us.
Parachute, Shock Cord and Engine Housing:
For the shock cord we all decided we are going to use one from an old rocket. We plan to make the parachute out of a trash bag that has holes punched through. Since our motor will fit perfectly into our body tube we wouldn't need any engine housing, which makes things a little easier.
Fins:
I was the one who planned out the fins for our rocket. At first we weren't really sure what we wanted our fins to look like. After I talked to some of the other groups and got some inspiration, I thought that it would be best for our fins to be a parallelogram shape. I decided we should use four fins.
