For this experiment we were looking at the phases of matter and what dry ice does when it is dropped into water. We had to put a piece of dry ice into some water, once we did that the dry ice started its process of sublimation, that is when the dry ice would turn into gas without no liquid state. The process of sublimation was very interesting to watch, because the water was bubbling fast, and the piece of dry ice kept getting smaller and smaller.
We also got to put dry ice into a balloon. For the experiment, we would get to see how the dry ice went through sublimation in a balloon. The balloon was expanding, because the dry ice was turning into a gas in the balloon. It was really cool because we got to see the balloon fill up all by itself without a person having to blow in it. At the end we had to measure the diameter of the balloon.
